Privacy notice

Version 1.1 · October 5, 2026

Goth Asylum presents books: it sells nothing and doesn’t ask you for any data. The site has no cookies, forms, accounts or analytics, and loads no content from other companies. While you browse, the only data that can be linked to you is your device’s IP address, which every website receives when it serves a page and which stays for a while in the server’s technical logs. If you email us, we also process your email address and what you send us. This page explains what we do with this data.

1. Who is the data controller

Goth Asylum is an initiative of Arte Occulta, which decides how and why the data on this website is processed.

2. What data we process and why

Browsing. When you open a page, your browser requests it from the server that hosts the site. The server records each request in a technical log, with data such as your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the outcome of the request, and the type of browser and operating system.

We use this data only to run and protect the site: to deliver pages, find errors, and detect and block cyberattacks. We do not use it to find out who you are, we do not combine it with other data, we do not build profiles, and we make no automated decisions about you.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a website that works and is secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We have weighed it against your rights: the data is minimal, purely technical and not used to get to know you.

Your browser sends your IP address automatically, and it is necessary: without it, the page cannot reach your device.

Email. If you write to 31@gothasylum.com, we process your email address, the text of your message and any data you send us, such as your IP address and the time of your visit when you ask about the logs. We use it only to reply to you and handle your request.

Legal basis: for requests about your rights, our legal obligation to respond (Art. 6(1)(c) and Arts. 12-22 GDPR); for other messages, our legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Writing to us is optional.

3. Cookies

The site uses no cookies, neither technical nor profiling ones, and stores nothing in your browser that could identify you. That is why you see no banner: there is nothing to accept or refuse.

4. Who processes the data on our behalf, and where

The site and the mailbox are hosted by Aruba S.p.A., an Italian hosting company. Aruba runs the server, the logs and the email on our behalf, as a data processor (Art. 28 GDPR).

The site and the email are hosted in Aruba’s data centers in Italy, and pages reach you through Aruba’s content delivery network (CDN).

Fonts, images and scripts are all on our own site: when you open our pages, your browser connects only to our domain, served by Aruba.

We do not sell the data. Apart from Aruba, the only ones who can receive it are authorities that request it by law, for example under a court order.

5. How long we keep it

Server logs are kept by Aruba, which deletes them according to the rules of its hosting service. We make no copies of them, with one exception: if a log is needed to investigate an attack or to defend a legal claim, we keep the lines needed, and only until the matter is closed.

We keep emails for three years after the request is closed, so that we can show how we replied. Then we delete them.

6. Links to other websites and Google Search Console

From the site you can go to Amazon, where the books are sold, and to spezieria.com. These are ordinary links that open only when you click them. Your browser tells those sites that you come from Goth Asylum, but not from which page. Our Amazon links carry no affiliate codes: Amazon does not tell us who buys. On the site you open, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

We use Google Search Console to check how the site appears in Google search results. Its only trace on the site is a code on the home page that proves to Google the site is ours; it collects no data about visitors. Google shows us only aggregated search data, which does not identify anyone.

7. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

Write to 31@gothasylum.com. We reply within one month (Art. 12(3) GDPR). The logs do not contain your name: to find the entries that concern you, tell us your IP address and the day and approximate time of your visit (Art. 11(2) GDPR).

If you believe that our processing of your data infringes the GDPR, you can file a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of the EU or EEA country where you live or work, or where you believe the infringement took place (Art. 77 GDPR).

8. Changes

If the site changes, for example with analytics, a newsletter or a contact form, we will update this page before the new features go live and, where required, ask for your consent. The version and date are always shown at the top.
